LOGAN, Utah, January 19, 2024 – The Shingo Institute, a program in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University, has awarded Jabil Circuit (Shanghai) Co., Ltd of China the Shingo Prize.

"Receipt of the Shingo Prize is a worldwide recognized symbol of an organization's successful establishment of a culture anchored on principles of enterprise excellence, such as respect for every individual, leading with humility, quality at the source, seeking perfection, and creating value for the customer," said Ken Snyder, executive director at the Shingo Institute. "Ultimately, these recipients are in a class of the best organizations in the world, regardless of industry or country."

The Jabil Circuit (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. site manufactures printed circuit board assemblies used in various sub-assemblies and advanced technologies. Using innovative surface mount technology on production lines, they ensure high quality with high-precision screen printers, chip shooters, reflow ovens, and automated optical inspection. Jabil Circuit (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. sells its products worldwide.

Alex Zhang, the Operations Director at Jabil Shanghai, reflected on the company's journey to receive the Shingo Prize, describing it as "very exciting." In 2010, the company began a Lean transformation initiative and, over four years, implemented the Shingo Model. The site dedicated itself to the model's principles of continuous improvement, cultural enablement, and enterprise alignment. The process heavily involved the employees and their investment in the principles. The company provided them with immersive training and development opportunities to ensure they could apply these principles to their daily work.

Alex was pleased with the employees' commitment, stating, "Every Jabil Shanghai employee was united and strived for this goal day and night, the best reflection of Jabil culture." Many of Jabil's customers, who are also Shingo Prize recipients, received the site's achievement positively. Alex expects that this recognition will lead to more business opportunities for Jabil as they continue to focus on continuous improvement and the pursuit of perfection.

When organizations "challenge" or apply for Shingo recognition, they invite a team of accomplished professionals and trained examiners to conduct a comprehensive review of their operations and culture. The examiners evaluate the challengers based on rigorous standards, and the Shingo Institute awards the organizations based on their assessment results.

Representatives from Jabil Circuit (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will be recognized as a Shingo Prize recipient at the Shingo Institute's Awards Gala. The gala will take place during the 36th Annual Shingo Conference, held on May 9-10 in Orlando, Florida, USA. For more information about the event, please visit https://shingo.org/events.
