Logan, Utah, April 05, 2024 — The Shingo Institute, a program of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University, has announced the induction of three distinguished leaders into the Shingo Academy. Chris Butterworth, Gwendolyn Galsworth, and Dean Jablonsky will be inducted into the Academy at the 36th Annual Shingo Conference Awards Gala in Orlando, Florida, on May 9, 2024.
The Shingo Academy is a community of individuals who have dedicated their lives to achieving organizational excellence. These individuals are recognized for their corporate and thought leadership across the industry and are passionate advocates of the principles of organizational excellence. Members of the Shingo Academy become ambassadors of goodwill for the Shingo Institute and work towards the common goal of promoting excellence in organizational practices.
The induction of Chris Butterworth, Gwendolyn Galsworth, and Dean Jablonsky into the Shingo Academy is a testament to their lifelong commitment to organizational excellence. As members of the Academy, they will actively speak at conferences, provide resources, offer advice, and research topics related to the Shingo Model.

About Chris Butterworth
Chris Butterworth is a multi-award-winning author, international speaker, and coach. He coaches executive teams and transfers continuous improvement knowledge across all levels of an organization. He has extensive leadership and consulting experience in a wide range of sectors. He is also a certified Shingo Institute master-level facilitator and a Shingo Institute Faculty Fellow and examiner. Chris won The Executive Connection’s (TEC) Best New Speaker of the Year Award for his talk on Lean thinking. He co-authors three widely acclaimed Shingo Publication Award books: 4+1: Embedding a Culture of Continuous Improvement, The Essence of Excellence: Creating a Culture of Continuous Improvement, and Why Bother: Why and How to Assess Your Continuous Improvement Culture. About Gwendolyn Galsworth
Gwendolyn Galsworth is a recognized visual workplace expert who has been implementing visuality for over 30 years in some of the world’s best and most complex companies. As a hands-on implementer, coach, and author, she has focused on codifying the visual workplace—its concepts, principles, and technologies—into a single, coherent framework of knowledge and know-how that is sustainable.
Over the course of her work, Dr. Galsworth has developed an array of visual workplace methodologies and services that transform companies.
Dr. Galsworth leads full-company visual conversions, trains trainers, and conducts visual site assessments. She also frequently leads live coaching clinics and public and on-site seminars, in addition to supporting a network of licensed visual workplace affiliates.
She founded Visual Thinking Inc. (originally Quality Methods International) in 1991 as a base for her client work and associated research. In 2005, Dr. Galsworth launched The Visual-Lean® Institute, where in-house trainers and external consultants are trained and certified in the organization’s nine core visual workplace methods.
Dr. Galsworth is the author of seven books on workplace visuality and strategic improvement, two of which have received the coveted Shingo Publication Award. Her long-running weekly radio show, The Visual Workplace, has produced a library of over 200 podcasts, and her weekly newsletter, The Visual Thinker, has produced hundreds of articles.
About Dean Jablonsky
Dean Jablonsky serves as the Vice President of Global Indirect Sourcing and Enterprise Excellence at Boston Scientific. In this pivotal role, he oversees the company's enterprise-wide indirect sourcing and champions initiatives for enterprise excellence. Dean leads the esteemed Global Enterprise Excellence consulting team, driving impactful value improvement endeavors across all facets of Boston Scientific to enhance both gross and operating margins. His purview extends to supporting global manufacturing and supply chain operations, encompassing functions, divisions, and regions spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
Since joining Boston Scientific in 1995, Dean has embarked on a journey marked by ascending leadership roles in manufacturing, quality engineering, production, process enhancement, and supply chain management on a global scale. He spearheaded numerous initiatives within operations focusing on operational, functional, and regulatory excellence, orchestrating plant turnarounds, and implementing Boston Scientific's renowned global Enterprise Operating System. Under Dean's guidance, seven Boston Scientific sites have garnered prestigious Shingo Award recognition.
Moreover, Dean has led transformative endeavors in global R&D, revolutionizing the commercialization of new products across all divisions by orchestrating comprehensive re-engineering efforts within the Product Portfolio, Exploratory, Technology Development, Clinical/Pre-Clinical, Product Development, and End-of-Life business systems.
In 2011, he played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and launching Boston Scientific's global Healthcare Solutions business, fostering partnerships with hospitals to elevate the standards of care, enhance patient satisfaction, and optimize cost efficiency in the USA, Canada, and Europe.
Dean holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Minnesota, complemented by an Executive MBA from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management.
