If you weren’t able to make it to this year’s Shingo Conference in the Cincinnati, Ohio area (Covington, Kentucky, to be exact), we certainly hope you’ll make it to next year’s Shingo Conference in Orlando, Florida. In the meantime, here are a few of the highlights of what you missed last week.
At the awards gala, there were five (!) Shingo Prize recipients, including the first ever from Spain. Two of the five Shingo Prize recipients were re-challenges; companies that had received other Shingo awards in past years but progressed to the level of Shingo Prize this year.
Some of the highest-rated keynote speakers of the conference were Rich Sheridan of Menlo Innovations, Robert Martichenko of LeanCor Supply Chain Group, and John Baranzelli of the Illinois Department of Central Management, among others.
One of the most popular parts of the Shingo Conference is the site visits. We don’t have photos of those, however, because the sites we visited requested that we not take any.
The pre-conference workshops are always well-attended. This year’s two Discover Excellence workshops were both sold out early on.
Here are some of the notable quotes from the post-conference satisfaction survey (all anonymous):
“I liked the sense of community at this conference. The size of the conference was in the Goldilocks range – not too small but not too big.”
“This was my first meaningful exposure to Shingo and I came to learn. It filled the bill well beyond my expectations. I’ll certainly be back.”
“I believe in the Shingo Model and principles. Shingo goes to a deeper level of understanding of operational excellence and cultural transformation than any other conference.”
“I have been to many Shingo conferences over the past 20 years, and it remains the best conference that I have attended which provides multiple view points from many different sectors. You always get some nuggets to take back home.”
