The Shingo Institute inducted two new members into the Shingo Academy on May 17, 2021, at the 33rd Annual Shingo Conference. Jacob Raymer and Steven Moore received the prestigious honor.
Jacob Raymer is the chief transformation officer at Munson Healthcare, northern Michigan’s largest and leading healthcare system. Mr. Raymer is also an internationally recognized speaker who addresses corporate and public audiences on the subjects of leadership roles and responsibilities, cultural transformation, and how to achieve organizational excellence with the right behavior and sustainable long-term results. As the Shingo Institute’s former director of education, Mr. Raymer co-created the Shingo Model and developed and trained Shingo examiners and thousands of individuals worldwide on how to assess and implement Lean transformation. In 2006, he pioneered a concept called key behavior indicators (KBIs). Organizations are usually familiar with key performance indicators (KPIs), but they often fail to focus on the behavior in how to achieve such performance results. By combining KPI and KBI, IEX, Mr. Raymer’s consulting firm, has led the development of learning and application of behavior-based strategy deployment; building systems to drive the right behavior; mapping principle-behavior systems and tools; and developing internal assessments.
Steven Moore had a long career of management experience with Barnes Aerospace. Under his leadership, the Ogden Division achieved 700% sales growth and year-over-year record profits driving record business metric results from a consistent pursuit of Lean and operational excellence. Most importantly, he helped create a workplace culture of organizational excellence and employee empowerment and engagement. Under Mr. Moore’s leadership, Barnes Aerospace Ogden Division received a Shingo Bronze Medallion in 2011. Taking the feedback report from the site visit in 2011, Mr. Moore and his team then charted their path of excellence to a Shingo Prize in 2014. Since then, Mr. Moore has served on the Shingo Executive Advisory Board, the Utah State Board of Regents, and the JD Machine Corporation Advisory Board. He also chaired the Board of Trustees at Utah System of Technical Colleges.
Membership in the Shingo Academy is an honor bestowed upon individuals with distinguished careers in organizational excellence. Members of the Academy support the mission of the Shingo Institute by attending events, providing contacts for speakers and site tours, furthering research, and providing advice. The Shingo Academy is the hall of fame for organizational excellence. New members are inducted into the Shingo Academy each year by the Shingo Executive Advisory Board.
