Biography

Mike Dixon is an Associate Professor of Operations Management at the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University and serves as Director of the Shingo Student Center. He earned his PhD from Cornell University, MBA from the University of Utah, and BS from Utah Valley University. Prior to joining Huntsman, Mike held faculty positions at the Ivey Business School in Canada and the Naval Postgraduate School.


His research explores how operational decisions influence service design and customer experience, with a particular focus on how event sequencing affects memory and service evaluation. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Service Science, and the Journal of Service Management.


Before academia, Mike worked at American Express as a risk manager and service operations analyst, and spent over a decade in the food service and retail grocery industries. He teaches courses in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Services Management, and Managerial Statistics.


Outside the classroom, Mike enjoys woodworking, playing the ukulele, fly fishing, gardening, hiking, and biking.
