Torbjørn Netland is the head and chair of Production and Operations Management at the Department of Management, Economics, and Technology, at ETH Zürich, Switzerland. Before joining ETH, he was an associate professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and senior researcher at SINTEF, both in Trondheim, Norway. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Cambridge, UK, and a Fulbright Research Fellow at Georgetown University, Washington D.C., USA. His research on corporate Lean programs appears in several peer-reviewed journals. His research has been conducted in cooperation with leading global manufacturers. Professor Netland is a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Councils, a fellow of the European Academy of Industrial Management, and vice president of finance for the POMS College of Operational Excellence. He is also the recipient of two Shingo Research Awards and numerous teaching awards.
